NSS

The National Service Scheme (NSS) under the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Government of India has been functioning in our college since 2010-11. It engages students volunteers in different extra-curricular activities for the neighbourhood community through different programmes on environmental awareness, community development, health awareness throughout the year. Different extension activities like National Integration camp for 7 days for the adapted slum and slum children, Free ENT and eye check up camps every year, plantation programs, distribution of clothes and foods and books to the destitute and slum children, cleaning campus and neighbourhood, learning programs and practical hands-on training for the students, observation of various important days like ‘World Environment Day’, ‘Independence Day’ and special events like ‘Swachh Bharat’ etc. These events engage the students actively in co-curricular activities, encourage the youth through myriad opportunities and helps them to grow up as a better citizen. The events are uploaded in My-Bharat portal.

Objectives:

  • The motto of NSS is – ‘ Not Me But You’
  • To serve the community and the destitute
  • To aware the students and people about health-hygiene and environmental issues
  • To observe different important days and create consiousness among the students

Benefits:

The student volunteers in different activities of NSS will be able to be social leader, Eco- Warrior, better citizen and these experiences will add a feather to their resume who is involved in the NSS activities regularly. It also helps in personality development, skill building, hands on experience and social consciousness among students.

  • Experiential Learning programme on ‘Cyber security and Cyber Hygiene in collaboration’ with My Bharat Portal, I4C (Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre), Ministry of Home Affairs and Kolkata Police(July-August)
  • Rakshabandhan Celebration on 8th August in community and Neighbourhood
  • 15th August Independence Day Celebration with adopted slum people and distribution of food among street dwellers

  • World paper bag day celebration(July 12)by NSS
  • 15th August Independence Day Celebration by NCC and NSS
  • Special camp of NSS 7 days duration(March) with different activities
  • FREE Eye Check up camp for neighbourhood community by NSS(20 March by Namita Biswas Memorial eye hospital, Garia)
  • AIDs awareness programme by doctor of Apollo Hospital for the community on 28 March by NSS(under Red ribbon club)
  • World Earth Day celebration by NSS on 22nd April
  • Distribution of clothes to the destitute and vector borne disease awareness programme
  • 5th June World Environment Day with Dept of Geography(in collaboration with IQAC)
  • World Yoga day celebration (21 June)
