Kanyasree Prakalpa


Kanyasree Prakalpa –a state Government venture in which unmarried female students below 18 years are given a stipend. There are two category of scholarships K1 and K2. All the students having age 13 years to upto 18 years are eligible to apply for K1 and all the students having age greater than 18 years and within 19 years are eligible to apply for K2. A student can get maximum Rs. 25,000/- (one time grant) under K2 in a year. It is a conditional cash transfer scheme under the Department of Women Development and Social Welfare, Government of West Bengal, with the aim of empowering the girl child and encouraging education among teenage girls. It is also a unique welfare measure initiated not only to promote studies among women but also prevent marriage prior to the legal age of 18. There is no income limit.

Swami Vivekananda Merit Cum Means Scholarship (SVMCM)


With a view to assisting the meritorious students belonging to economically backward families in the State of West Bengal to pursue higher studies, the Government of West Bengal introduces the Swami Vivekananda Merit Cum Means Scholarship Scheme at different levels of higher studies, at educational institutions based in West Bengal. Payment will be made by direct beneficiary bank transfer only.

JUDGING CRITERIA: The total family income for the prospective scholars will be not more than Rs. 2,50,000/- per annum. The minimum qualifying marks for being considered for award of scholarships will be 60% in aggregate, in the H.S. Examination conducted by the W.B. Council of H.S. Education.
